Overview and History

The Embraer Phenom 100EV is the latest iteration of the highly successful Embraer Phenom 100. The Phenom 100/100EV is a very light jet (VLJ) developed by Embraer, the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer.

The Phenom 100 entered development in April 2005 and showed off a full-scale mock-up in November of the same year. The first flight for the Phenom 100 came in July 2007, was certified in December 2008 and the first delivery happened later that same month.

The Phenom 100 soon got updated to the Embraer Phenom 100E, featuring minor updates and multifunction spoilers. The Phenom 100EV entered service in March 2017 with substantial weight savings, an increase in thrust, and an updated flight deck.

Operated by private owners, companies fractional ownership programs, charter operators, aircraft management companies, and military operators, the Phenom 100EV variants are highly popular for short distant flights.

With nearly 400 units in active service, the Phenom 100 model is a great choice for those looking for an increase in speed over an equivalent-sized turboprop aircraft.

Embraer Phenom 100EV Performance

The Embraer Phenom 100EV is powered by two rear fuselage-mounted Pratt & Whitney PW617F1-E engines, with each one producing 1,730 lbs of thrust (3,460 lbs total). These two Pratt & Whitney engines are able to power the Phenom 100EV to a maximum altitude of 41,000 feet, at a maximum cruise speed of 406 knots.

When set up for a long-range cruise the Phenom 100EV has a maximum range of 1,178 nautical miles (1,355 miles). Additionally, the Phenom 100EV has a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 10,582 lbs.

The 100EV is able to take-off in just 3,190 feet and has a landing distance of 2,430 feet.

Embraer Phenom 100EV Interior

The inside of the Phenom 100EV measures 3.35 meters in length, 1.55 meters in width, and 1.50 meters in height – see how this compares with its rivals (LINK). The inside of the 100EV is intelligently designed resulting in an unprecedented amount of space and comfort.

The 100EV features the largest entrance door in the VLJ segment, featuring a handrail and optional LED step lighting. Once inside there is the option for a wardrobe to store your coats for the flight or you can opt to replace this with the largest-in-class refreshment center.

You will enjoy generous cabin space, an abundance of natural light – with the largest windows in the segment – reclining seats for enhanced ergonomics, and 11 interior collections from which to choose. With a cabin altitude of 8,000 feet (similar to the cabin altitude you would expect from a typical airliner), combined with the Oval Lite cabin design providing the most headroom and legroom of any VLJ, make the Phenom 100EV a space ideal for working or relaxing.

The 100EV’s stowable tables allow for plenty of additional room for working or dining. Behind the 4 seats arranged in a club configuration, there is the full-sized lavatory.

The Phenom 100EV is the only aircraft in class to feature a lavatory with windows and has the option for a belted lavatory seat which is certified for taxi, take-off, and landing. Further behind this is the baggage compartment.

The 100EV has a baggage capacity of 70 cubic feet – this translates to capacity for four golf bags or two pairs of skis, four carry-on bags, four garment bags, and four laptop bags.

All this space results in maximum space for six passengers on-board the aircraft. Note though that if you are chartering this aircraft it is unlikely that a reputable operator will allow for 6 occupants.

Charter operators will normally insist on two pilots upfront (even though the Phenom 100EV is single-pilot certified). Additionally, operators are unlikely to have aircraft with the optional belted lavatory, bringing a more realistic capacity of 4 passengers.

Please be sure to discuss this with your charter company when booking a flight on this aircraft.

Cockpit

As you would expect from a new Embraer aircraft, the Phenom 100EV is fitted with state-of-the-art avionics. The Prodigy Touch avionics up front are optimized for single-pilot operation with smart automatic and reduced checklists.

Down to its very last detail, the Phenom 100EV has been meticulously engineered to deliver advanced technology and unparalleled ergonomics. Boasting intelligent automation and a human factors-driven design, the aircraft offers easy, single-pilot operation plus enhanced capabilities.

Its state-of-the-art, touch-controlled flight deck is designed to anticipate every need, minimize workload and increase situational awareness. The Synthetic Vision System sees what the eyes can’t.

Graphical flight planning, SurfaceWatch™, vertical navigation, wind shear alerting, and weather radar with vertical scan, ground clutter suppression and turbulence detection provide even more situational awareness. And the design of the aircraft’s synoptic screens and Prodigy Touch avionics – based on Garmin 3000 – create an instinctive interface between pilot and aircraft.
