The Embraer Legacy 450 is the sister aircraft to the Legacy 500 and the predecessor to the Praetor 500.

The Legacy 450 and Legacy 500 were publicly introduced to the world in the summer of 2007. The aim was to position the aircraft between the popular Phenom 300 and Legacy 600.

The first flight of the Legacy 450 took place in December 2013. Brazilian certification was awarded in August 2015.

The FAA certified the aircraft later that same month. Since the first Legacy 450 rolled off the production line, approximately 50 aircraft have entered service.

The Legacy 450 is based on the same platform as the Legacy 500 but with a shorter fuselage.
