Bombardier Global 6500

The Bombardier Global 6500 is, as the name suggests, part of the Global family of aircraft. The Bombardier Global family of aircraft can trace its origins back to the Bombardier Global Express aircraft.

Originally announced in October 1991, the first flight took place 5 years later.

The Global 6500 was announced alongside the Global 5500 aircraft in May 2018, with hopes for the aircraft to enter service at the end of the next year.

Bombardier developed the 6500 to sit just above the Global 5500 in its lineup of aircraft. The aircraft has a maximum range of 6,600 nautical miles and a high-speed cruise figure of Mach 0.88.

The Global 6500 is powered by two Rolls-Royce Pearl engines, with each one capable of outputting up to 15,125 lbs of thrust. This, therefore, results in a total maximum thrust output of 30,250 lbs.

As a result, the Global 6500 is able to take-off in just 6,145 feet, with a landing distance of 2,236 feet.

The Rolls-Royce engines are able to propel the Global 6500 to a top speed of Mach 0.90.

The high-speed cruise figure comes in at Mach 0.88, with a typical cruise speed of Mach 0.85. When at Maximum Take-Off Weight, the Global 6500 has an initial cruise altitude of 41,000 feet and is able to cruise at up to 51,000 feet.

Moreover, thanks to the efficiency of the Rolls-Royce Pearl engines, the Bombardier Global 6500 is able to fly non-stop for up to 6,600 nautical miles. Of course, this figure is just the theoretical range with the standard NBAA IFR reserves, assuming standard meteorological conditions, cruising at Mach 0.85 with 8 passengers onboard and 4 crew.

The floating base also allows for completely fluid movements. According to Bombardier, this is the first-ever seat with a fully trackless footprint.

As a result, passengers can effortlessly and intuitively position their seats.The typical cabin layout for the Global 6500 has 3 distinct living areas. At the front, just behind the crew rest area, there is the club suite.

Here, there are 4 of the patented Nuage seats. Additionally, the club suite features a 4K bulkhead monitor with immersive surround sound.

Walking further back, passengers will find the conference suite. There are multiple floorplans available, including the optional Nuage chaise for maximum comfort.

This is the perfect area to work or dine, focused around a heigh-adjustable single pedestal table.

Finally, at the rear of the aircraft, there is the private suite. Again, there are multiple floorplans available for customers.

However, a typical layout includes 2 of the patented Nuage seats, a 3-place breathable divan, and a 4K bulkhead monitor.

Attached to the private suite passengers will find the en suite lavatory. Here, there is a lavatory with large windows for natural light.

There is a large mirror, vanity, sink, faucet, and the option for a standup shower. There is also unrestricted access to the baggage compartment during flight.

Up front, Bombardier has equipped the Global 6500 with some of its latest cockpit technology. The ambition of the cockpit design and technology is to increase safety, efficiency, and passenger comfort.

The Global 6500 is equipped with the Bombardier Vision flight deck. According to Bombardier, this is “the industry’s leading cockpit”.

Here Bombardier has combined a comprehensive avionics suite with refined aesthetics. There are four large LCD displays arranged in a T configuration, providing maximum ease of use.

The aircraft is also equipped with a combined vision system. Here, the system merges enhanced and synthetic vision images into a single view on the head-up display.

This, therefore, reduces crew workload and increases situational awareness. This is especially important when flying in poor conditions.

As a result, safety is greatly improved in poor conditions.
