Bombardier Learjet 60XR

The Learjet 60XR, a mid-size cabin, medium-range business jet aircraft, is the largest of the Learjet family with new fuel-efficient engines, a wider, stretched fuselage, and a glass cockpit. Thrust reversers and single-point refueling are also standard equipment, and the aircraft features a full galley, together with an aft lav.

The Learjet 60XR fleet is evenly split in terms of whether they were purchased new or pre-owned. As of August 2015, 51% of the Learjet 60XR aircraft were purchased pre-owned by the current owners, the other 49%, new.

12.3% are currently for sale with the majority of those (71%) under an exclusive broker agreement. When for sale, the average number of days a Learjet 60XR remains on the market is 478.

The original Learjet 60 was announced in October 1990 as the replacement for the mid-size Model 55C, from which it derived several of its key features. Production of the Learjet 60 ended in 2007 following the completion of 316 deliveries.

The Learjet 60XR was launched in 2005 and completed production in 2013. It has an upgraded cabin and Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 advanced avionics suite.

To many travelers, the Learjet 60XR’s most notable improvement over its predecessors is its interior cabin atmosphere. Its cabin dimensions of 17′ 7″ length, 5′ 10″ width, and 5′ 7″ height may not be the largest in its class, but it is a significant improvement over its predecessor considering that it is 43 inches longer and 3 inches wider than the Learjet 55 series.

Although the business jet can carry a maximum capacity of nine passengers, it is optimized to transport seven passengers with maximum comfort and luxury. Comfortable club seating arrangements with retractable worktables, and ample legroom provide the aircraft with the foundation for a comfortable flight.

The upgrade also features many design improvements including increased storage space that can store 59 cubic feet of baggage, a larger galley, customizable floor plans, and a cabin management system, which allows for electronic power and control modules.

The 60XR was the latest aircraft to be fitted with Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21, replacing Pro-Line 4. The ProLine 21 is a fully integrative avionics system with many key upgrades that include decreased weight, a 75% larger display area (four 8×10 inch screens), higher reliability, and more capabilities.

Its Flight Management Systems interface includes electronic charting features. This system makes operating the aircraft easier and more efficient.

The cost to charter this jet starts at around $3,850 an hour. Hourly charter rates do not include all taxes, fuel, and other fees.
