| softPOPS |
| softPOPS are foam cylinders available in four colors as shown on the label. The two sizes are 1/4" and 3/8" in diameter and both are 11/4' long. The numbers are suggested hook sizes. Cut a slot along the length of the cylinder and slip onto the hook. Cut the front at an angle to create a popping face. Tie in at the back, lift the foam off the hook and wrap a thread base forward. Attach the popper with Zap-a-Gap or other cyanacrylic glue. While the poppers shown below have not been colored, waterproof marking pens can be used to add spots or stripes. The white and yellow are easiest to color. You might want to add eyes which could be drawn with marking pens or you could use stick-on eyes, Audible doll eyes can be attached with Zap-a-Gap using the same technique as described in the polyFROG instruction page |
![]() | A simple popper tied with a small yellow softPOP and a red saddle hackle. |
![]() | A few tight turns of thread produced the shape of this large popper. To make it easier to compress the foam on the larger size popper, cut a hollow in the back end. Use a 4/0 thread or you could also use copper wire as described below. |
![]() | The segmentation was created with individual copper wires wrapped around the foam and twisted at the bottom. The twists were touched with Zap-a-Gap and cut. The hackles are also individual feathers wrapped from the bottom in a single turn, glued at the top and the excess trimmed. |
