SuperANTS are available in either black or white and the 4 sizes will cover all hook sizes from #10 to #24 or smaller. Your tying thread will do most of the shaping of the soft compressable foam cylinders.
Try Flycraft LEGstuff for realistic legs or use a turn or two of black hackle. Leg material is tied in on top of the body after the thread has compressed and formed the thin waist. The only shaping needed is an optional shaping of the abdomen, called the gaster, by heating with a lighter and pinch-rolling the softened foam before tying. You may also want to trim and shape the head after tying. White superANTS can be colored with waterproof marking pens for red, brown and cinnamon versions or they can be used to create emerger patterns.
There are many variations possible, such as shaping the abdomen as described above, or adding wings to make a flying ant version. Tying instructions will be found on the inside and back of the label and scrolling down to the photos below will be helpful.
